Haines Center Closed Due to Air Conditioner Issue; Emergency Reporting and Response to Continue

Due to a failure of the air conditioning system at the Haines Children’s Center, the building was closed at 10:37 a.m. today, July 29, 2019.

People can still report concerns of abuse and neglect by calling 224-KIDS (5437), and emergency situations regarding child abuse and neglect will be addressed promptly. All visitation in the Haines Building has been canceled for the remainder of the day. Caseworkers who have obligations in Court are expected to meet those obligations.

The situation will be reassessed at 3 p.m. to determine if the after-hours crew will be able to work their shifts, which begin at 5 p.m. in the Haines Building. Daytime staff will be alerted by blast text by Montgomery County’s Communicator system whether the situation has resolved and they should report for their shifts on Tuesday, July 30.
