Red Cross Opens Service Center for Those Impacted by Tragic Shooting

Working in collaboration with our community partners, the American Red Cross will provide a space at our local chapter to continue the healing process after the tragic and senseless act of violence experienced over the weekend. The Dayton Chapter, located at 370 West 1st Street, Dayton, 45402, will operate as a Service and Recovery Center for those affected by the tragedy in the Oregon District. The Center will begin operation on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Red Cross will have health professionals, spiritual care volunteers, caseworkers, and mental health professionals available at the site to help care for loved ones struggling to come to terms with this heartbreaking event. Financial assistance is available for families of the deceased and those injured to support recovery. Caseworkers can also provide referrals for additional community support.

Any community member wishing to speak with a chaplain or mental health professional may visit our center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for support and conversation.
