The deadline is approaching for homeowners to receive funding through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati (FHLB). Residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed have until the end of the year to apply for up to $20,000 toward the repair of a home or the construction or purchase of a new home.
These funds are made available through FHLB’s Disaster Reconstruction Program in response to the tornadoes that hit the Dayton region on Memorial Day.
Homeowners are encouraged to apply for the grants as soon as possible, as the funding does not roll over into the next year after Dec. 31. As long as the applications are submitted before the end of the year, the funds will be secured and available to those who have applied. New funds will be made available in 2020, but the funds available for this year will no longer be available to the community if they are not used by Dec. 31, 2019.
Also included in the program are grants for renters. Anyone who rents and lives in the affected areas could be eligible for $5,000 toward the purchase of a home.
