Montgomery County Joins Social Networking Service Nextdoor

Montgomery County is proud to announce it has joined the social networking service Nextdoor. Nextdoor is a free website and smartphone application that allows citizens to connect with neighbors and exchange information, goods and services.

The platform will allow the County to provide more personalized and hyperlocal information to its citizens. Nextdoor verifies each user’s home address and name to provide enhanced privacy and security.

Montgomery County will utilize the platform to provide important updates to the community, including but not limited to:

• Emergency notifications during times of crisis
• Water, sewer and solid waste services
• Construction and capital project updates
• Animal Resource Center lost and found dog notices
• Special activities and events

“We are very excited to join Nextdoor so we can better connect with our citizens and share meaningful information with our friends and neighbors,” said Montgomery County Commission President Judy Dodge. “We have dealt with so many crises in the past year and we have learned the importance of being able to reach specific audiences, especially when it comes to matters of public safety. We want to take advantage of every tool at our disposal to reach people who need our assistance and services.”

Residents can find Montgomery County on Nextdoor at “Montgomery County.” We encourage everyone to join the platform and be on the lookout for updates from the County.
